In 1956,
with the birth of the long play record on vinyl disc,
music could be recorded of higher quality, but there
were very few companies that made high quality sound
systems.
Altec Lansing, was one of these companies. They
made sound systems for Western Electric and the sound
was only heard in movie theaters and large installations. Altec
Lansing came out with a consumer version of the sound
systems that could be used in the homes. |
